King Abdulaziz International Airport is located at the northern end of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia's second largest city. It is the first international airport in Saudi Arabia and also the busiest airport. It is also one of the busiest airports in the Middle East and the world. It is named after King Abdulaziz bin Abdul-Rahman Al Saud (Ibn Saud), the founding monarch of Saudi Arabia.
The airport began construction in 1974 and was put into use in 1981. As of May 2020, a total of 72 foreign airlines have opened routes here.
